Today I drove my ninety-one year old neighbour; to the doctors to have her leg re bandaged. A way for her to show her appreciation is that we stop for lunch at a cafe of her choice, or if the appointment is afternoon we stop for a cup of tea.
Yes it is Winter but I noticed that the majority of fellow diners, including myself were dressed in somber or dark colours. This gave rise to the thought of how the colours we choose to surround ourselves with or to wear have such a powerful impact on our days and lives. the colours of the universe are always flowing around us and through us.Sparkling within us the colours of the Chakras. Picture a sunset glow the blending of the light dancing as mauve pink, gold greys and orange. Even on the darkest nights the stars radiate in all their diamond brightness. We are exposed to more visual imagery daily than any other time in history. I ask myself why so many drab colours in our clothing.
Ancient Sages long ago “felt” the vibration and energy of individual colours.A more modern version of how firms and Companies take this ancient knowledge and apply it is touched on by William Aruda on his youtube video”Colour is a powerful Branding Tool.”
Red the colour of potency energy, action. Remember how Mum knitted the red sweater for winter or perhaps red mittens the colour of comfort passion, determination and courage. the colour red speeds up our pulse rate increases our breathing slightly and is the colour of nervous and glandular activity.Dr. Luscher tells us “Red corresponds symbolically to the blood of conquest, to the Pentecostal flame igniting the human spirit to masculinity it’s sensory perception is appetite. Red is the present moment.
Orange the colour of expanding energy, success force and vitality. It seems Americans do not favour the colour orange but the French do. It is the colour of strength to forge through giving productivity and determination. The colour represents the attribute I need to work on completion.
The happiness of the colour yellow is palpable, I remember when Mum painted her very small bathroom a bright yellow she had to recall the painter to “tone down” the overwhelming brightness and energy the room exuded. It can represent caution, the colour used on road signs as warnings that we are approaching an area that is the habitat of wild animals falling rock etc. It is the colour of creativity and vision.”Yellow corresponds symbolically to the welcoming warmth of sunlight, to the aspirational halo round the holy grail, to the cheerful spirit and to happiness it’s sensory perception is piquancy, its emotional content is hopeful volatility, and it’s organs are the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems.”
Green the complimentary colour to red.We are able to see more shades of green than any other colour. Green means regrowth or rebirth. Green represents freshness, living. Think of a pine forest or a droplet of water falling from a palm frond.Recycle revive renew. Relaxation and fertility; think of Spring and rebirth new growth optimism, fertility nature and healing. It’s sensory perception is astringent. It’s organs are the smooth involuntary muscles,so gazing out of the window ,away from the computer at grass or trees helps relax your stomach and quiet your mind.
Blue is the vibration of Truth wisdom and peace. Loyalty reliability and authority. Our confidence and intelligence comes from that colour, so why not wear a scarf or bright beads in this colour. For meditator contemplating on a shade of darker blue has a pacifying effect on the central nervous system and slows breath and lowers your blood pressure. Dr.Max Lusher in his book Color Test says ”Dark, like all four of the basic colours is achromatic representation of a basic biological need-physiologically,tranquility; psychologically, contentment, contentment being peace plus gratification………….Blue corresponds symbolically to calm water,to the quiet temperament, it’s sensory perception is sweetness. Derived from the Sanskrit, the Pali word Nila has been given to the special dark blue colour advised as the most suitable enviroment for the purposes of meditation.” ,
Purple Dr.Luscher says violet/Purple attempts to unify ht e impulsive conquest of red and the gentle surrender of blue…..a sort of mystic union,a high degree of sensitive intamicy ….enchantment a dream made fact so that every thing that is thought and desired must become reality. of Mysticism inspiration, mystery magic dignity luxury ambition wealth competition. Often called royal purple this is a colour of high vibration.
So why not let colour spill into your life, like sunlight in the morning or the glow of red around a silver moon starlight held on a purple sea, let the glow of the Universe shine around you. I’m willing so let’s all give it a try.
